A policeman was shot dead near their house at CDCP resettlement site in Sta. Catalina at dawn yesterday.

The fatality was identified as PO1 Jerome Alpa y Habibon, 31, married, of the 9th Maritime Group.  He sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

It was gathered that Alpa had received a text message from a person telling him to come out of the house around 12:30 a.m.

When Alpa came out about few meters away, an unidentified man shot him several times.

Alpa failed to draw his 9 mm pistol from his waist as he was hit by bullets in the body.

The gunman escaped after the incident.

Police investigators recovered the victim’s gun still in the holster tucked on the right side of the waist, seven spent shells and two slugs of.45 caliber pistol in the area where Alpa fell dead.
