Eight persons were injured when the jeepney they were riding collided head-on with a truck carrying sand and gravel along the highway in Upper Calarian, this city.

A police report disclosed that the truck was running at high speed around 3 p.m. when the driver lost control of the steering wheel.

The truck first hit the rear end of a red car with twoTurkish nationals aboard. No one was hurt in the car. After hitting the car, the truck went straight ahead and collided with a jeepney.

Eight were injured including a motorcycle driver who was hit by the bumper of the jeepney.

The victims were identified as Roxanne Garcilliano, Leny Jose, Majid Langgan, Jul Hussin, Edgardo Morales, Michelle Francisco, Abdul Usman, and the jeepney driver Jerry Climaco.

They were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals.

But the truck driver escaped, prompting police to conduct a manhunt operation. — ABS-CBN News
