Men of the Central Police Station’s Investigation Section led by Insp. Albert Alfaro under Chief Insp. Edilberto Alvarez on Sunday afternoon arrested one of the persons tagged as behind the killing of a policeman in Sta. Catalina on May 13.

Arrested was Leo Ibba y Umping, 34, of Sta. Catalina. He was arrested around 3:40 p.m. with the help of some witnesses who pointed at him as one of the suspects in the killing of PO1 Jerome Alpa y Habibon, 31, of the Maritime Group 9.

The identity of Ibba was known during a relentless investigation by police investigators. Ibba was detained at the police station pending the filing of murder charge against him  in court.

Police were still conducting follow-up operations for the arrest of three more suspects.

Alpa was shot and killed few meters away from their house in Sta. Catalina shortly before 1 a.m. on May 13.

It was gathered that Ibba was a friend of Alpa with whom he figured in a dispute due to some personal matters. – Dan Toribio Jr.
