Highway Patrol Group-9 operatives have recovered 16 stolen motorvehicles and 21 motorcycles for the period of 2014 up to the first quarter  2015.

HPG-9 chief  Sr. Supt. Severino B. Agustin disclosed that  most of the recovered motorvehicles and motorcycles have been stolen in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.  All the units were bound for   Basilan, Sulu and Tawi- Tawi.  They were recovered in Zamboanga City

According to Agustin, five motorvehicles were stolen while parked or unattended, three were stolen at gunpoint, three failed to return after the owners/drivers were misled. Most of the motorcycles have been stolen while parked or unattended while the rest were stolen at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, HPG-9 operatives conducted 45 ocular inspections and visitations to the different secondhand car dealers and spareparts in the city inconnection with  the implementation of  R.A 4136 known as the Land Transportation and Traffic Code of the Philippines.

A total of 123 violators have been apprehended for various violations of the law. As part of the Sambayanang activities of the command, the HPG-9 operatives also rendered 900 occasions on motorist assistance and 900 pedestrian assistance, conducted four traffic road safety educations, 14 participations in inter-agency/ community activities/ coordinating conference, participation in sports/religious and cultural activities.

Agustin who presided a command conference yesterday directed all HPG-9 units to be extra careful  and vigilant as school opening is fast approaching. All units are directed to do their security measures for school opening. —  Allen Abastillas
