Fire safety inspection of student dorms set Print

As opening of classes is set to resume soon, the Zamboanga City Fire District together with the City Engineer’s Office are set to conduct a joint inspection of all student dormitories and buildings as part of the mandated duties and responsibilities Republic Act No. RA 10121, otherwise known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, bringing attention on Section 12, paragraph 11, wherein to identify and implement cost effective risk reduction measures.

District Fire Marshal Supt. Dominador F. Zabala Jr.  issued a memorandum to all fire station commanders to carry on the order from the chairman of the Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (ZCDRRMO) Dr. Elmeir E. Apolinario to conduct inspection in their area of responsibility (AOR) as he said, that disaster can happen any time and place after what happened at the Kentex Manufacturing Factory in Valenzuela City last May 13, 2015 where 72 workers perished in a deadly blaze.

The objective of the inspection is to verify and check the actual condition of the different dormitories and buildings to ensure the ultimate safety and protection of the students in the highest priority and enforce the safety regulations if necessary.
