Mayor Beng Climaco has urged Zamboanga voters to heed the call of the Commission on Elections to have their registration records validated on or before October 31 so they can exercise their right of suffrage come May 9, 2016.

The City Government fully supports the COMELEC advocacy on mass validation of registered voters in the city’s 98 barangays through information campaign.

The COMELEC-City office has appealed to all registered voters in the city to submit themselves for validation on or before October 31, 2015 or they will not be allowed to vote in the May 9 synchronized national and local elections.

The office has scheduled satellite registration and validation activities in the barangays to maximize the process. The COMELEC-city office, located at the City Government building along Villalobos Street is open for validation when the personnel are not in the barangays for the satellite registration.

Based on records, District 1 has a total of 206,272 registered voters spread in 37 barangays. Of the number, 30% or 70,000 have not validated yet their registration records. District 2 on the other hand, has 179,473 total registered voters in 61 barangays, but 55,000 of them have so far not validated yet their registration records.

Satellite registration and validation activities in the barangays are expected to culminate by the end of July. The Comelec-city office will be focused on registration and validation activities from August to October 31, Monday to Sunday.
