Two soldiers were stabbed and wounded by a despondent woman in front of a military camp in Sulu, a top military official disclosed.

Col. Alan Arrojado, Joint Task Group Sulu commander, identified the wounded soldiers as Cpl. Michael Latorre and Cpl. Bimbo Evangelista, both assigned with the Marine Battalion Landing Team-2 (MBLT-2).

Arrojado said the victims were allegedly stabbed with a kitchen knife by Salma Hassan, 49, around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday outside the MBLT-2 headquarters in Mount Bayug, Barangay Samak, Talipao, Sulu.

Arrojado said the victims were in front of the MBLT-2 headquarters’ main gate waiting for fish vendor to pass by when Hassan approached and suddenly stabbed them with a kitchen knife.

He said the duty gate sentinel arrested the woman  and turned her over to the police for the filing of appropriate criminal charges.

He said the MBLT-2 corpsman immediately applied first aid to the wounded soldiers and brought them to the trauma hospital at Camp General Teoduflo Bautista in Jolo town.

He said the soldiers, both of whom sustained stab wounds in the chest, were airlifted Tuesday afternoon to a military hospital in this city.

He said the attacker stabbed the victims as she wanted to die since her husband married another woman.
