Matildo said it is very important that voters should validate their voter’s registration records that include their signature, photo and fingerprints as decided by the Comelec.

He said there are 179,433 registered voters in District 2 but there are still 60,000 not validated yet.

In Dsitrict 1, there are 203,000 registered voters, but more or less 65,000 remain unvalidated.

Matildo urged registered voters to immediately validate their records so that they can exercise their right of suffrage in the 2016 elections which include voting for the country’s president to replace President Benigno Aquino III.

Matildo said the staff of Comelec District 1 and 2 including Information Technology computer technicians   are also scheduled to conduct the voter’s registration validation in the  different barangay halls in the city to decongest the Comelec offices at Pettit Barracks.

Matildo also said that since day one of the validation process,  there was no reported  incident of harassment, coercion and intimidation on Comelec staff and personnel. —  Allen Abastillas
