The National Housing Authority (NHA) will turn over today, May 30, the initial 127 houses on stilts in Mariki, as it continues to pursue the implementation of permanent houses for siege-affected families under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) plan.

The turnover, set at 3pm at Lupa-lupa, Mariki will be graced by Mayor Beng Climaco who will accept the ceremonial key from NHA prior to turnover to beneficiaries; NHA officials led by Regional Manager Engr. Alfonso Borlagdan and District Manager Engr. Al Indanan, other Z3R sector officials and Mariki barangay officials headed by chairperson Palma Hasim.

The Mariki permanent housing is one of the Z3R packages with a total of 642 beneficiaries. The project has a total allocation of P137.72 million and sits in a 71,300 square meter-area with 642 housing on stilts units.

The project is undertaken by the Gulf-Canary Construction and Development Corporation with a project duration of 300 calendar days. It started August 29, 2014 and is expected to be fully completed July 18, 2015.

While the first 127 units will be turned over today, the other housing units are ongoing construction.

The beneficiaries of the initial housing units have been selected in accordance with the Code of Policies and IRR for the selection of beneficiaries under the Z3R.  — Sheila Covarrubias
