A policeman’s daughter was wounded in a gun attack in Navarro St.  near RT Lim Boulevard Friday night.

The victim was identified as Sherimar Mariwa Laja, 27, married. She sustained slight bullet wounds in the body and was rushed to the hospital.

Initial investigation disclosed that Laja, her two children and sister just alighted from their vehicle to eat “balut” and while doing so, two men riding tandem on a motorcycle appeared and the back rider opened fire on her.

The suspects then sped towards San Jose Road while the victim was taken to the hospital.

Laja was declared out of danger by the attending physician.

Police investigators led by Insp. Albert Alfaro under Chief Insp. Edilberto Alvarez recovered spent shells and a slug of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Alvarez said they have already a “lead” as to the identity of the person behind the gunslay attempt. — Dan Toribio
