One of two men riding tandem on a motorcycle lobbed a grenade that exploded in front of the Ayala police Station before 1 a.m. yesterday.

The grenade attack came less than two months after a bomb exploded outside of the same police station.

No one was injured in yesterday’s grenade blast.

Initial investigation disclosed that a blue Suzuki Raider motorcycle slowed down in front of the police station and the back rider hurled a fragmentation grenade which exploded around 12:54 a.m.

The motorcycle sped westward after the explosion. Recovered at the scene of the blast was a grenade safety pin,

Police suspect the grenade attack and the bomb blast outside the station on Good Friday last April were carried out by the same perpetrators.

The bomb attack on Good Friday destroyed an impounded pickup truck parked in front of the station  Five passersby were wounded.

Police investigators eyed drug pushers in the west coast as behind the Good Friday’s bomb explosion.

Top police officials had already warned all police stations in the region to adopt strict security measures to  prevent assaults from terrorists, rebels and criminals. — Dan Toribio
