A drug user accused of maltreating his wife was arrested during a police operation at Purok 5, Sangali last Monday night.

Sangali police station chief Sr. Insp. Joel Tuttuh identified the suspect as Benshemal Surain, 31.

Surain’s wife Nidzla had filed a complaint with the Sangali police station allegign that he manhandled her.

Acting on the complaint, policemen went to their house and invited Surain to the police station for a confrontation with his wife. While at the police station, police investigators discovered that the suspect was carrying shabu in his pocket.

During a body search, police recovered from his possession one heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, two empty transparent plastic sachets, several used foil strips, used tissues, disposable lighters and other drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was detained while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination while appropriate charges have readied against Surain. – Dan Toribio Jr.
