Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Chief Operations Officer Mark Lapid will grace the ‘Migrant’s Workers Day’ as keynote speaker on June 7, 2015 (Sunday) at the Royce Convention Center of Grand Astoria hotel.

Lapid is expected to give his message at 3 p.m. before hundreds of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and  their families as participants organized by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration OWWA-IX headed by Regional Director Hassan Gabra  Jumdain.

Lapid is a movie actor and a politician and earned the distinction as the youngest elected provincial chief executive of the country who, at 25 years of age, went on to steer the Province of Pampanga into one of the top ten performing provinces of the country.

His youthful dynamism and remarkable governance and leadership brought about notable achievements which distinguished Pampanga in the field of tourism, trade and investments.

Barely a year after being appointed as General Manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) in December 09, 2009, PTA was given by the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC) a “GAWAD PAMPUBLIKONG KORPORASYON,” in testimony of the institution that articulates the values of creativity and excellence through public-private sector partnership.

Moreover, PTA was cited as the first government corporation to have successfully awarded and concluded a Joint Venture Agreement with the private sector in accordance with 2008 JV Guidelines of NEDA.

When PTA was reorganized as the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), Mark Lapid was immediately appointed by President Benigno Aquino III as its new Chief Operating Officer. He continued pursuing his advocacy to make PTA, now TIEZA as a top performing government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCC).

Under his leadership, TIEZA recently received its ISO-2008 certification which highlights the quality management system and standardized processes within the organization.

Mark is the son of Senator Lito Lapid and married to actress Tanya Garcia on July 30, 2010, at Marissa Hall in Porac, Pampanga. They have two daughters, Mischa Amidala (born September 21, 2007), and Matilda Anika (born October 29, 2010) in Las Vegas. — Monch L. Follosco
