The U.S. Embassy in Manila will hold a closing summit for the Madrasah Youth Promoting English Advancement for Community Empowerment (MY PEACE) project in Davao City on June 6, 2015.  At the summit, the project beneficiaries will present their community project plans, and give testimonials on their experiences during the MY PEACE project.

The MY PEACE project empowered 120  youth in Mindanao by providing them English language and life-skills training. Over the course of 10 months, local partners, Voice of Mindanao and Naawan HELPS Inc., implemented the MY PEACE project in Marawi and Zamboanga. The local partners provided English language training to teachers and alumni of U.S. government exchange programs, who in turn provided evening and weekend classes to youth that have little or no exposure to English. The program established two centers with internet connectivity, five computers and multimedia equipment. The language classes also taught life skills such as entrepreneurship and civic engagement.
