A policeman surrendered in what was described as an accidental shooting incident in which an engineering student was seriously wounded in Tumaga Thursday morning.

The victim was identified as Alfred Tan Viloria, 22, a third year student and a resident of Talon-Talon. He sustained a bullet wound in the head and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Viloria was said to have been accidentally shot by PO1 Edwardo Anuddin inside the latter’s house.

Anuddin is a member of the Special Action Force assigned in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

It was gathered that Anuddin went home from Bongao Wednesday. He arrived at their residence around 9 a.m. and was surprised to see Viloria inside their house.

Since both of them were not known to each other, they figured in a heated argument during which Anuddin pulled his pistol and fired a warning shot towards the ceiling,  but the slug ricocheted and hit in Viloria’s head.

It was learned that Viloria and some classmates were known to the Anuddin family and they were doing a school project in the house.

Anuddin was detained at the Sta. Maria police station while the gun was turned over to the investigators.—Dan Toribio
