Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA)  operation officer Mark Lapid on Sunday  announced that he is contemplating on running for a senate seat in next year’s elections in a bid to  continue the unfinished programs of his father, Senator Lito Lapid.

The young Lapid made the announcement of his political ambition live over E-Media TV/radio program hosted by Gil Climaco in Divisoria.

Lapid said his father who is on his third and last term in senate has encouraged him to join politics to continue serving the country.

He said he feels there is an obligation to spread more of the good things his father had done which have  benefitted the many Filipinos.

Lapid and his father, a popular movie action star of the 70s and the 80s, were in the city Sunday to grace the celebration of Migrant’s Workers Day held at Royce Convention Center of Grand Astoria Hotel.

In a separate interview, the young Lapid praised the OFWs whom he described as living heroes who are contributing in the country’s economy.

Lapid’s youthful dynamism and remarkable governance and leadership brought about notable achievements which distinguished Pampanga in the fields of tourism, trade and investments.

Shortly a year after he was appointed general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority on December 9, 2009, PTA was given by the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel, (OGCC) a Gawad Pampublikong  Korporasyon, in testimony of the institution that articulates the values of creativity and excellence through public-private sector partnership. – Dan Toribio
