Little league baseball will likely see a revival in Zamboanga City as Little League Baseball Zamboanga City Chapter President and 2nd District Rep. Erbie A. Fabian vowed to revitalize local tot baseball here.

Heartened by the recent return to glory of the city little league team in the regional meet and subsequent triumph in the national Palaro competition in Dapitan, Fabian disclosed the city tot baseball is on the rebound.

Rep. Fabian disclosed he is set to re-convene the local tot baseball body and work on a vigorous grassroot development program anew to sustain the momentum of the Palaro triumph.

Several years ago, a Philippine team composed mainly of local kid standouts created a splash by annexing the far east little league crown before advancing to the world little league title game where it eventually won the crown.

The subsequent controversies from the players’ eligibility issues eventually took its toll and for a while little league fever died down in the city.
The city solon expressed great pride in the achievements of the recent little league team and said this could be the key turning point in resurrecting the game in the city.

Little league baseball is hugely popular in the city’s barangays in the outskirts and has been a wellspring of talents both for the city and the country
Little league standouts in the past went on to become stalwarts of various commercial baseball teams in Manila.

Culianan, San Roque, Vitali, Mercedes are just some of the barangays that in he past contributed great ball players for various city little league teams.
Rep.Fabian added, more tournaments for tot baseball could fuel momentum into reviving the once famous sport here in the city.

Little League baseball for one is in the annual calendar of Zambolympics, a summer sportfest sponsored by Rep. Fabian.
