Mayor Beng Climaco on Monday denied any knowledge about a manifesto that has circulated among barangay chairpersons urging her and District 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat to remain united and continue their political alliance.

Asked by RMN News about the “suspicious manifesto” during her regular Monday press conference at city hall, Climaco stressed she has no hand on the document.

“I am not aware of it and I don’t know anything about that alleged manifesto, but I have heard about it from some quarters. If RMN has a copy, then much better if you can provide me one,” Climaco said.

The lady mayor said that somebody told her about the said manifesto but she has not seen or read the content of it and as to who circulated it, she has also no idea of the motive of the author or the one whoever circulated it.

Climaco said she believes in the capacities of barangay chairmen and respect whatever their decisions would be when it comes to choosing the leaders of the city.

“I am supporting the clamor of the barangay officials to pursue the present unity and continuity among leaders of the city for the common good, and I respect the equity of the incumbent,” Climaco said.

Climaco added that she has high respect on the barangay officials and would respect their decisions in the future if the right time comes for the verdict.

“It is up to the people to decide, like Cong. Lobregat, I am also in the process of consultation and we have not yet agreed on anything as well as other incumbent officials of the city, we strongly respect the equity of the incumbent as what we have pledged to the people, my options are still open with regards to political decisions in the future,” Climaco said.

Earlier, Lobregat denied any hand on that manifesto as he condemned its “doubtful motive.”

Lobregat revealed that he has talked to those who have signed the document and most of them were unaware of the so-called “twist” on the document.

The solon said he is fully supporting their sworn contract of unity and continuity, but the manifesto was done with hidden agenda. — Bhong Simbajon/RMN News
