Cop killed, brod hurt in Sinunuc gun attack PDF Print E-mail

A policeman was killed while his elder brother was wounded in a gun attack along the highway in Sinunuc last Wednesday night.
Killed was SPO1 Patrick Dela Cruz y Ocalinas, 49, married. He was assigned at the Regional Internal Affairs Services. Wounded was Javier Usop y Ocalinas, 49.

A police report disclosed that Dela Cruz was driving a motorcycle with his brother backriding, on their way to Baliwasan from a barangay in the west coast around 11 p.m. when two men aboard another motorcycle chased them and the backrider opened fire on near an ice plant in Sinunuc .

Police said that Dela Cruz and Usop fell on the pavement after they were hit by bullets.
Although wounded in the left foot, Usop ran away, while Dela Cruz who was apparently bleeding in the body struggled towards the gate of the ice plant but was
pursued by the triggerman who shot him again in the head. He died on the spot.

Police said that the assailants took Dela Cruz’ motorcycle then sped westward.
Javier told the police that after he ran away, the gunman did not chase him anymore.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo disclosed that the Sinunuc police have launched a hot pursuit operation for against the assailants. — Dan Toribio Jr.
