Mayor Beng Climaco has aired an urgent appeal to all Zamcelco member-consumers to actively participate in the annual general membership assembly (AGMA) set on Sunday, June 21 to personally air their grievances and present recommendations to help solve the crippling power situation in the city.

Climaco said the AGMA is the appropriate venue where member-consumers can express their sentiments face to face with Zamcelco officials in light of the worsening power crisis.

The mayor herself has challenged Zamcelco to improve the coop’s administrative and technical capabilities, otherwise it cannot address effectively the power crisis besetting the city for months now.

The mayor lamented Zamcelco’s inability to contract additional power supply for the city because it is operating on a huge system’s loss amounting to millions of pesos a month.

During a City Government-initiated stakeholders’ forum on power last Monday,  June 15, the chief executive bewailed that the city’s lamentable power situation will never improve “if we remain idle and not making things possible to happen” by conserving electricity, adopting energy-saving tips and make Zamcelco management accountable for its inaction to addressing the power crisis.

The Zamcelco has also enjoined its members to attend and participate in the 40th AGMA on Sunday set at 1pm at the City Coliseum in Tetuan. The activity is open to all bonafide member-consumers. Registration will start 6am and all member-consumers are advised to bring their Zamcelco ID cards or any valid ID. — Sheila Covarrubias
