Effective today, Monday, June 29, motorists are free to use the Tumaga-Lunzuran road, as City Hall suspends enforcement of an executive order declaring the said thoroughfare as one way street.

Assistant City Administrator Elmeir Apolinario, Ph.D. said Executive Order BC 116-2015 is suspended starting today to allow the City Government and the Police to experiment on alternative strategies to better ease the traffic in the area for a duration of one week.

Recall that EO BC 116-2015, the act naming Tumaga-Lunzuran Road (Sun Street), a one way street from its junction with Tumaga Luyahan Road, to the entrance gate of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Tumaga from 6am to 8am and from 3:30pm-5:30pm, Mondays to Fridays, took effect June 8 in anticipation of the heavy traffic that may result in the area due to the opening of classes.

The suspension order was issued June 25 and City Police Director PSSupt. Angelito Casimiro has been properly informed of the new traffic experiment.  “Motorists therefore are free to use all the aforementioned roads prior to the implementation of the Executive Order.” — Sheila Covarrubias
