Man arrested on rape, human trafficking raps PDF Print E-mail

A resident of Malagutay, this city was arrested in a department store after he allegedly made an attempt to rape one of two would-be victims of human trafficking inside a pension house in Sta. Maria, last Thursday morning.

The two women were also rescued and were taken to the Visayan Forum pending their return to their respective hometown.
Police identified the suspect as Narding Damahan y Tapopong.

A police report disclosed that a 22-year-old woman from Kalinga, Mountain Province and another one from Sultan Kudarat arrived at the Zamboanga City airport last June 12. They were fetched by Damahan who brought them to Smile Traveler’s Inn in Sta. Maria for their temporary stay before they would leave for Jordan.
The two women told the police that it was a certain Loraine Lorilla of Philippine Global Agency in Soldado St., Malate, Manila who recruited them to work in Jordan as domestic helper.

Police said that while they were sleeping inside the pension house, Damahan touched the private parts and kissed the neck of the woman from Mountain Province
The incident was reported to the police while Damahan escaped immediately.

A follow-up operation conducted in a department store along La Purisima Street last Thursday morning resultingin the arrest of Damahan.
The two women were turned over to the Visayan Forum while Damahan was detained at the central police station pending the filing of charges against them in court. — Dan Toribio Jr.
