VP Elago to spearhead inspection of 11 islands PDF Print E-mail

The City Council’s Committee on Tourism is set to  conduct an ocular inspection of the Eleven Islands in the east coast.

Committee Chairman Councilor Vincent Paul “VP “ Elago said the inspection will be made together with the  committee members,  Philippine Navy personnel, Task Force Zamboanga soldiers and troopers of the  Zamboanga City Police Office.

“I have forged a partnership with Councilor Jerry “Totong” Perez who is chairman of the Committee on Peace and order, who will also be joining the ocular inspection,”,Elago said.

After the ocular inspection. Elago said he will submit to Mayor Beng Climaco plans for the development of the islands.

According to the councilor, the Eleven group of islands is one of the beautiful  islands in the country and some of the isles are more beautiful  than Sta. Cruz islands.

“Many people want to go there for picnicking,  islands hopping and tour, but they are discouraged and afraid  because of no security assurance,”,Elago said.

Once the islands are developed, the quality of life of people living thereat will improve. They will be having  livelihood opportunities like selling of souvenirs and transportation services. Nearby barangays like Bolong, Sangali and Panubigan will also benefitting from the development of the Eleven Islands because these are the jumping points to those isles.

Elago said if security is established,  Eleven islands will surely become a tourist destination and an income generating for the city government. — Allen Abastillas
