Mayor Beng Climaco applauded Bolong barangay officials and law enforcement authorities involved in the latest anti-smuggling operation that led to the confiscation of at least 8,000 sacks of imported rice.

Mayor Climaco said Bolong chairperson Tony Evangelista showed assertive vigilance of his barangay that resulted to the successful operation together with the Coast Guard personnel and other law enforcement units.

The chief executive hoped that other barangay officials will be inspired by the example demonstrated by the Bolong officials in confronting issues besetting the village no matter the challenges.

Based on reports received by the mayor, Coast Guard personnel together with Bolong barangay  officials on Wednesday around 9am conducted seaborne operation on board ML Julmina in the waters off Siromon Island (11 Islands) in Barangay Panubigan in the east coast.

The vessel, ML Julmina, said to have come from Sandakan North Borneo was found to be loaded with more or less 8,000 sacks of imported rice.

The vessel was expected to be towed to the Zamboanga pier through Harbor Pilot anytime Wednesday.

“Enhorabuena con todo envuelto na operacion contra smuggling,” the mayor said and personally communicated Evangelista and Coast Guard authorities to express gratitude and appreciation for another job well done.
