The Police Regional Office-9 held a kick-off ceremony on June 29 for the observance of Police Community Relations Month.

The activity was held at the Police Regional Office 9 Headquarters, Camp Abendan in Mercedes, right after the Monday Morning Flag Raising Ceremony.

The simple ceremony was led by Police Chief Supt. Edgar Basbas, acting regional director with Atty. Pablito Abad, acting regional director, NAPOLCOM as Guest of Honor and Speaker.

The observance of PCR Month is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 764 declaring  July of every year as PCR Month, with the NAPOLCOM as the lead agency and the PNP as the implementing agency.

The PCR Month posts as opportune time to enhance public awareness on its crucial role in crime prevention.

With the theme “Matibay na Ugnayan ng Mamamamayan at Pulisya, Simbolong Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran ng Sambayanan,” the activities concentrate in continuing bridging the gap between and the PNP and the community in the fight against criminality.

The Guest of Honor and Speaker in his message during the program stressed that crime prevention is a shared responsibilities between the law enforcers and communities.  He cited the role of the communities in helping the PNP in the fight against all forms of criminalities.

Abad also stressed the importance of the Police Community Relations to the PNP organization especially in crime prevention measures.

Several activities have been lined up for this year’s observance of PCR Month.  Community participation is  the  target of these activities which involve crime prevention and the elimination of the illegal drugs.

In the culmination ceremony set on July 31, 2015, the PRO 9 will be giving awards and commendations to PNP personnel in recognition of their valuable contribution to the Command. — PR
