NPA IEDs recovered; 5 soldiers hurt in clash PDF Print E-mail

Three unexploded improvised explosive device (IEDs), two rolls (150 and 160 meters) electrical wires and five (5) liters of gasoline were recovered by the soldiers of the army’s 26th Infantry Battalion (26IB), 4th Infantry Division, from New People’s Army rerbels after an encounter in Brgy. Binucayan, Loreto, Agusan del Sur at 2:35 p.m., last Thursday.

Four soldiers were slightly wounded due to a landmine blast at the encounter site. hey were immediately brought to Patin-ay Hospital, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. Pursuit operations were still ongoing as of press time.

The soldiers were on security patrol following a report about the presence of an unidentified armed group.    Among the recoveries of the soldiers at the encounter site are 4 backpacks; raincoat; tent; assorted empty shells of high powered firearms (HPFA); sim cards and a medical kit.

Civilians reported that there were wounded NPA guerrillas who were brought by their companion in their escape. It was further revealed that the NPA rebels are again intoon extortion in the\ area.

On June 27, 2015, soldiers of 26IB recovered four HPFA two M16 rifles; one AK-47 rifle; and M653 rifles after an encounter with about 20 NPA rebels at Sitio Tagbulete, Brgy. Del Monte, Veruela, Agusan del Sur with no casualty on the government side.

Meanwhile, Eastern Mindanao Command Commander Lt. Gen. Aurelio B. Baladad earlier directed concerned military unit commanders in the area to be vigilant and pursue security operations to protect the civilians from NPA rebels’extortion and other illegal activities. He also encourages wounded NPA members in the area to surface for their medical treatment and return to the folds of the law.

“Our soldiers are ready to help you to safely reach the hospital for your medical treatment”, Lt. Gen. Baladad said.
