Government forces recently seized 2,500 sacks of imported white sugar from a ML Nurena at Varadero de Cawit vicinity, this city.

Regional Maritime Unit -9 Chief Sr. Supt. Shepard Reyes disclosed that the joint operation was carried out by the 901st Maritime Police Station Chief led by SPO4 Jose J.Inovia together with the Philippine Coast Guard Sub Station Recodo led un CPO Rosal.

According to  Reyes, the imported sugar’s origin country is unknown. The motorlaunch with  white sugar shipment is now under the custody of the Bureau of Customs.

Meanwhile,  Reyes disclosed government forces intercepted a motorlaunch named M/L Jolmina loaded with more than 10,000 sacks of suspected imported rice  at the coastal area of Barangay Bolong on July  1, 2015. The motor launch was suspected to have come from Sandakan, Malaysia. After  the checking of the vessel, government forces led by SPO4 Jose J. Inovia and personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard  and Sangali police Station towed it to the Zamboanga City Wharf, then properly turned over to the Bureau of Customs for inventory. — Allen Abastillas
