Acting Mayor Cesar Iturralde has urged barangays within the 7-kilometer radius to deploy tanods and volunteers to assist in traffic management in their areas of responsibility specifically during peak hours.

Iturralde issued the call as he personally observed traffic congestion in major intersections during peak hours the past days. Among the areas prone to traffic congestion include Tetuan, Talon-talon, Guiwan, Sta. Maria, Baliwasan and Zones I, 2, 3 and 4.

He observed that policemen and traffic enforcers are not sufficient to man traffic in the different areas, thus, the need for barangay governments to do their share and help ease traffic congestion.

“We call on all barangays within the 7-kilometer radius to deploy tanods and volunteers to help facilitate traffic in their areas of jurisdiction specifically during peak hours in the morning, lunch time and afternoon,” the acting mayor appealed.  — Sheila Covarrubias
