Rape-slay suspect escapes from police custody in ZN PDF Print E-mail

A man who raped and killed his victim, escaped from police custody at the compound of the Hall of Justice in Liloy, Zamboangadel Norte the other day.

Police identified the escapee as Jimmy Baluguan Putal of Gutalac, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Initial investigation disclosed that Putal was handcuffed and guarded by PO2 Jobert Eslit, PO1 Pamela Abrea, and PO1 Rey Saladaga as they sat on a nipa hut inside the Hall of Justice compound while waiting for his commitment order when he suddenly ran towards a ravine where he disappeared.

Police said that Putal was charged with rape with homicide.

Hot pursuit operations have been launched for his re-capture.

Meanwhile, a US national was arrested in Poblacion North, Piñan, Zamboanga de Norte, the other day.

Nabbed was Christopher Batts, 52. He was arrested for theft with case criminal case number P-3140 with bail bond of ?12,000 and direct assault with case number P-3141 with bail bond of ?10,000 dated July 1, 2015.

The warrants of arrest were issued by Acting Presiding Judge Deborah P. Garcia-Nazario, 2nd MCTC of Pinan-La Libertad, 9th Judicial Region, Branch 001, Pinan.

The accused was arrested by policemen in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation.
