Erstwhile City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr. will be recognized for his over 15 years of service and dedication to the city of Zamboanga and its residents in a testimonial dinner tonight to be hosted by Congressman Celso Lobregat.

Orendain’s service record as City Administrator spans through four chief executives including the administration of Lobregat who served his full term of 9 years from 2004-2013. Known as Palo Alto, Orendain’s performance is described as exemplary and exceptional. He retired from the government service last June 30.

Lobregat praised and thanked Orendain for his service to the city and the residents. He said Palo Alto is the epitome of dependability, efficiency, loyalty and professionalism.

On numerous occasions, Orendain was designated as City Caretaker and OIC mayor during Lobregat’s term. It were on these instances when Orendain proved his worth as a leader, a manager and overseer of operations of government.

The testimonial dinner, set at 7 tonight in one of the hotels in Gov. Camins, will be attended by officials from the City Government, members of the City Council, representatives from the national government agencies, academe, religious group, business sector, police and military sector, civic groups and other civil society organizations.

As City Administrator, Orendain’s functions included coordination for all work programs, projects and activities of all offices of the City, directing the study and analysis of the organization, management practices and operational procedures of offices and institute administrative reforms when deemed necessary.

His office likewise took charge of the maintenance and administered the operation of Economic Enterprises Management.— Jubels Santos
