The Interfaith Council of Zamboanga City met Friday at City Hall Conference Room to discuss among others the preparations for the Grand Iftar to be sponsored by the Interfaith Council headed by Mayor Beng Climaco, chair of the Council.

Presiding the second meeting of the Interfaith Council this year was Fr. Angel. C. Calvo, CMF, Co-Chair of the Council in the absence of Mayor Climaco.

For the celebration of Iftar 2015, there were suggestions to hold it in Vitali, the Boggok community and at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Complex, the site where evacuees of the September 9 siege were sheltered.

At the end of the discussions, Fr. Calvo asked the Council Members to allow the mayor to decide the venue on July 14, the only date left before the exit of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

For the celebration of Eidil Fitri, the Council decided to hold it at Plaza Pershing to be planned by the Executive Committee created by the Co-Chair of the Council with members coming from the Interfaith Council with the support of the Staff of the Mayor’s Office.

Also, in the meeting’s agenda, was the controversial “National Anthem” issue. — GCCPBA Media Group
