A total of 175 families affected by the 2013 siege will return to their permanent homes Wednesday, July 15, as the National Housing Authority (NHA) turns over to the city government and eventually to the families the loftable houses constructed under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) program.

Of the total number, 113 units are located in Lustre in Sta. Catalina and 62 units are located in the Islamic Village in Sta. Barbara.

Mayor Beng Climaco and NHA officials led by District Manager Engr. Al Indanan and representatives from other concerned agencies will spearhead the turnover set in Sta. Catalina at 9am and in Sta. Barbara set an 2pm.

The Lustre Homeowners Association (HOA) housing package consists of total 154 single loftable units. The remaining units have already been completed but documents for the turnover are still under process. The association’s housing program is originally under the Community Mortage Program (CMP).

The Islamic Village HOA package, on the other hand consists of 67 single loftable units. The remaining 5 units have not yet started construction. The association originally acquired the housing program through lot purchase.

The NHA is currently fast tracking completion of the housing packages under the Z3R without prejudice to quality standards and other rules and regulations. The timeline set by President Aquino for the completion of the permanent houses was June 15.

As of June 23, the NHA reported a 35.52 percent accomplishment where 2,471 units out of the total 6,957 target number of houses for construction, have been completed. (Sheila Covarrubias)
