Some 400 Muslims gathered at Garden Orchid Hotel Convention Center on Monday, July 13, to celebrate PAGBUKAH 2015.

It was the 12th year of the Pagbukah, marking the break of the fast, that was hosted by District I Congressman Celso L. Lobregat.

Lobregat started holding the Pagbukah when he assumed as City Mayor in 2004 or 12 years ago.

And, he was the first Mayor to ever undertake such activity in Zamboanga City, making it a tradition in the locality.

The PAGBUKAH is Lobregat’s way of showing respect and understanding for the Muslim religious practices and culture.

The city’s lawmaker also delivered a message at IFTAR 2015 sponsored by the Filipino Turkish Tolerance School last week saying that in Zamboanga City, “We don’t tolerate but we respect and understand each other’s religion and culture”. -Jubels Santos
