Truck carrying imported onion, garlic cargo seized PDF Print E-mail

Men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company led by Supt. Ariel Huesca intercepted a van-truck transporting imported garlic and onion along Lobregat highway in Licomo Wednesday night.

Police identified the truck driver as Herbert Dionola of Zone 4, Bugo, Cagayan De Oro City. He could not produce papers legalizing the transport of the imported cargo.

Investigation disclosed that policemen were manning a checkpoint in Licomo near the border with Zamboanga Sibugay when the van truck came in around 11:00 p.m..

During inspection, the lawmen discovered that the truck was carrying several bags of imported garlic and onion and was heading city proper.

Because of it was carrying imported commodities, policemen asked for documents from the driver but he failed to show any. This prompted the lawmen to apprehend the truck and after a proper documentation they escorted the vehicle to the office of the Bureau of Customs.

However before reaching the Bureau of Customs, three tires of the truck blew- up along Veterans Avenue. Tthe driver told the police the truck was having engine trouble that prompted policemen to secure the vehicle until it was later brought to the Bureau of Customs. – Dan Toribio Jr.
