The Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) marked its 11th founding anniversary on Monday, July 20, with simple but meaningful program.

The highlights of this year’s celebration included the commemoration of WMSU as a “Royal University”,    President’s Report, Halal Forum, and the Conferment of Titles and Certificates of Membership of WMSU faculty to the Royal Institute of Singapore.

Congressman Celso Lobregat graced the occasion and thanked WMSU for making him an alumnus of the state-run university.

Lobregat was conferred last year by WMSU led by President Milabel Ho the Degree of Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa.

Just the other day, Lobregat was guest speaker at the 110th Foundation Day and 14th anniversary celebration of the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College.

State College President Nora Ponce acknowledged Lobregat’s unselfish and wholehearted support to their institution.

Lobregat, first as Congressman before he became Mayor, then as Mayor and subsequently now as Congressman, has been very supportive of both WMSU and ZCSPC, including the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology.

During the University’s anniversary program, President Ho gave her so-called State of the University Report or WMSU Address indicating “where we are now and where we are going”.

The report highlighted the University’s major achievements in different fields that contributed to the improvement of its performance rating.

Dr. Ho congratulated the students and the WMSU family and ended her message by saying “to God be the Glory”.  — Jubels Santos
