Five children were rescued after their banca (wooden canoe) capsized off Taluksangay yesterday morning.

Culianan Police Station chief, Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon disclosed that the incident happened around 6 a.m.

A sketchy police report disclosed that the five children fell on the water while the banca turned upside down.

Residents and some fishermen who saw the incident plucked the minors from the water and brought them  to shore.

Solon identified the children as Shaira Bugnale, 10, Roel Usman, 6, Elkan Usman, 3, Delam Usman, 8 months old, Mae-Mae Buhnale, 12, all residents of Muslim Village, Pasobolong.

Solon said that after the children were brought to the shore where they received first aid, they were rushed to the hospital to ensure total wellness. — Dan Toribio Jr.
