ZCSPC scholars thank CHED, benefactors PDF Print E-mail

Student scholars of the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College gathered at the conference hall in campus in the afternoon of July 14 to express their profound gratitude to their benefactors and to the Commission on Higher Education, Regional Office 9 for the valuable educational assistance extended to them.

Leading the students in this activity was the President of the school herself, Dr. Nora M. Ponce, assisted by Prof. Benhar J. Tahil, Vice President for Administration and Finance and Concurrent Vice-President for Academic Affairs. Also present was Ms. Lilia P. Remoto, Director for Student Scholarship. The activity was part of the 110th Founding Anniversary of ZCSPC and 14th  anniversary as a state college.

Representing the various benefactors were Hon. Councilor Rey Candido, in behalf of  District 1 Congressman Celso L. Lobregat; Mr. Mon Matias and Ms. Hannah Nuño, in behalf of District 2 Congresswoman Lilia M. Nuño, Ms. Teresita A. Pinili representing the Regional Director of CHEDRO9. Also gracing the affair was Mr. Kit Barredo.

ZCSPC has a total of 515 student scholars who are benefited by the following scholarship programs coursed through CHED: Tulong Dunong - 103, CHED Full Merit -5, CHED Half Merit - 8, CHED TD (Regular Program) – 12, ESGPPA – 186, Congressman Celso L. Lobregat scholars – 116 and Congresswoman Lilia M. Nuño scholars – 85.

Four representatives of the scholars profusely thanked benefactors in their testimonies. They were one in saying that if not for the scholarship grants they now enjoy, finishing a course in college would have been next to impossible. Their scholarship, they said, is giving them a chance for a brighter future, not only for themselves but for their families as well, they declared with a deep sense of gratitude. — Evelyn C.
