2 killed, 4 wounded in Pagadian gunfight PDF Print E-mail

Two men belonging to a lawless group were killed while four others including a policeman were wounded in a gunfight in Barangay Tulawas, Pagadian City last Friday afternoon.

Killed were Samrani Liwas Y Talumpa alias “Badi”, 24, single, and Kusi Guimba Y Ampatu, 54, a farmer, both residents of Purok Greenfield, Dalapang, Labangan, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Wounded were PO2 Hazel Esparaguerra Manuel of the Zamboanga del Sur  Police Provincial Office and thee suspects named Arham Palte Salindat, 24, single; Amerudin Navales Talumpa, 18, and Nhoc Navales Talumpa, 20, all residents of Barangay Upper Sang-An, Labangan, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Manuel sustained a bullet wound on the right side of his chest.

Another suspect identified as Mohammad Paluwa Y Guilly, 27 was arrested during the gunbattle.

Investigation disclosed that around 10:45 a.m., the  Pgadian City Police Station received a report from Barangay Chairman Lorenzo Escudero of Barangay Tulawas, saying there were armed persons in his area of responsibility.

Immediately PNP intelligence operatives of the Pagadian City Police Station led by PInsp Harry Ratunil Velez, proceeded to the said place to verify Chairman Escudero’s report.

Around 5:20  p.m.of the same day, a firefight erupted between men of the Pagadian city police station and about 15 armed men. Other police units reinforced the Velez’s team  that was exchanging fire with Talumpas’ group. The gunfight continued until  7 p.m.

Police said that the armed group was planning to revenge  the killing of Jun Talumpa who was shot to death by Roberto Ambona around  7:50 p.m. Thursday at Barangay Dalapang, Labangan, Zamboanga Del Sur.
