Ten of the city’s 98 barangays are at risk with high dengue cases since rains started falling in the month of July, the City Health Office said.

City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos discussed the sudden increasein dengue cases during a  press briefing at City Hall last July 13.

The barangays with high risk on dengue cases are: Tetuan, Calarian, Sta. Maria, Pasonaca, Tumaga, San Roque, Sta. Catalina, Divisoria, Tugbungan, Putik, and Baliwasan.

According to Agbulos, as of July 12, there are already 71 registered cases just in one week unlike last month which had only 90 to 100 cases for the whole period.

“We don’t have to sit back and relax. We really have to work double especially in the prevention and control of dengue in the city of Zamboanga for us to be able to stop any outbreak, Agbulos said.

He appealed to the media to inform the public about prevention and control of dengue by monitoring all possible places where dengue mosquitos can lay their eggs and multiply.
