The consignee of a big shabu shipment was arrested Wednesday afternoon, a day after police and PDEA operatives intercepted and seized the contraband cargo sent through a forwarder.

Merada Usman of Talon-Talon was collared after she went to the LBC Mindpro branch at past 4 p.m. She was was taken to the City Police Office to shed light on the shipment of the prohibited drug.

Usman however denied any knowledge about the two sachets of shabu weighing about 100 grams stashed on a package containing a pair of sandals and other personal items  sent to her by Sheena Usman of Bandlate, Quezon City.

Police have readied charges against Merada and Sheena.

Last Tuesday morning,  policemen led by Sr. Insp. Gary Bahoy together with PDEA agents proceeded to  the Zamboanga Airport after receiving an information that a package sent via LBC have shabu.inside.

When the package arrived and confirmed to contain drugs through a K9 sniff dog, policemen allowed it to be delivered to the LBC Mindpro branch where the lawmen waited for Merada to claim it.  The package was again sniffed by a K9 sniffdog before the police took it to the City Police Office.

Four sleeveless shirts, two male short pants, two pajamas, two blouses and a pair of sandals were found inside the LBC box. Together with the items were two sachets of shabu sealed with a pair of sandals.

Last Wednesday afternoon, Merada arrived at LBC Mindpro branch and claimed the package, prompting  the police to arrest her. A sachet of shabu was found from her possession. – Dan Toribio Jr.
