Mayor Beng Climaco has revoked the executive order that former mayor Celso Lobregat issued in 2013, prohibiting six-wheeler cargo trucks to include trailers and container vans from plying on certain streets undergoing rehabilitation.

In a letter dated July 31, 2015 to city police director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro, Mayor Climaco informed the police chief that EO No. CL 502-2013 had already served its intent following the completion of the rehabilitation, reconstruction and retrofitting of the bridge at Raja Muda Mandi Road in August 2013, including other road improvement projects in the area.

“For which reason, we see no more need to implement the aforesaid Executive Order and hence consider same revoked,” Mayor Climaco told Casimiro and requested the latter to advise the field traffic personnel to allow effective immediately the affected trucks to resume their routes on the affected streets.

The affected streets under EO No. CL 502-2013 were Zamboanga City Labuan Road (junction Suterville to junction of San Jose to Baliwasan Chico; Gov. Alvarez Street and Mayor Vitaliano Agan Ave.

The now revoked executive order banned cargo trucks from plying on the mentioned thoroughfares from 6 am to 8 and 4 pm to 7 pm Mondays to Fridays.— Vic Larato
