RMC-9 ramps up fight vs human trafficking PDF Print E-mail

The Regional Management Council-9 (RMC-9), a body of composed different government agenies, discussed in its meeting Wednesday a proposal to create a team to address, monitor and prevent human trafficking in the region.

Land Transportation Office- 9 Director Aminola P. Abaton, RMC-9 chairman, who presided the meeing, said that human traffickers use most of the time the different airports, terminals and wharves in the region to transport victims of human trafficking.

“We will study plans and strategies on how to monitor and create awareness on human trafficking and its effects to victims. Included in the plans is the information dissemination of information to the people on how to combat and prevent human trafficking,”,Abaton said.

Another  proposal is to create a team  to help persons with disability (PWDs) passing through the different airports, terminals and wharves in the region.”

“Let’s help the persons with  disabilities and give the services that would alleviate their unfortunate condition,” Abaton said.

In another development, RMC-9  has put up a candidate for the Philippine National Red Cross beauty pageant in the person of Ms. Rainalyn Capitle, a Third year Mass Communication student of the Western Mindanao State University.

RMC-9 members are the Philippine Coast Guard, Maritime Industry and Authority, Philippine Ports Authority, National Telecommunication Commission, Land Transportation and Franchizing Regulatory Board, LTO- 9 and Telecommunication Office.

Abaton called on the RMC-9 members to help the PNRC Beauty pageant activities because the proceeds of the funds will go to the  marginalized and less fortunate people in the society. — Allen Abastillas
