The local chapter of the Liberal Party will form a slate as soon as its leader Mayor Beng Climaco get from the LP national headquarters the legal documents which they filled up Tuesday during the gathering of what she called “best friends” of former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas who was anointed by President NoyNoy Aquino as the party’s standard bearer.

Mayor Climaco made this announcement in an interview with RMN Radio  Zamboanga Wednesday morning where she said that she is considering the formation of her local slate as soon as she gets instructions from the LP leaders in Manila.

Asked if there were pronouncements or re-alignment of their members, she said that it will be Mar Roxas who will call the shots as of now, because he is already the “chosen one”.

Climaco said she is in touch with the party members in the city for them to be ready whatever it is necessary for their political career.

“With regard to movements or re-alignments, we are still waiting for the legal documents and whatever pronouncements from our party,” Climaco said.

Considering their limited number of party members, Climaco is still hopeful to forge an alliance with the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino party (LDP) which is headed by District 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat.

“I am still hopeful that we will run together for the benefit of the city, like Congressman Lobregat, I am also conducting a consultation whether to run for the same position or another higher position,” Climaco said.

The mayor said she is still open to  any talks with Lobregat in due time contrary to reports that she has already closed the door.

“If the clamor of the people is for me to run for another position or as a mayor, I will go for it and hopefully the others will also respect it,” Climaco said.

If plans will not miscarry, the Lobregat-Climaco tandem will still be the same on the 2016 elections depending on any agreement on who to run for mayor.

Rep. Lobregat already publicly announced  that his team is ready but has left vacant positions for the Liberal Parry of Mayor Climaco if they will coalesce for the May 2016 elections.

Lobregat said that while he is conducting an ongoing consultation as to what is best for Zamboanga City, he expects Climaco to listen to the voice of the people and be “like minded”.

The local LDP has already prepared its line up pending further developments from their national party chairman. – Bhong Simbajon/RMN News
