An unidentified man believed to be a thief was shot and mauled by unidentified persons in Dimarunsing Street, Sta. Barbara at dawn yesterday.

The wounded man sustained two gunshot wounds to  the right thigh, bruises at the back of the head and  left knee and incised wound to  the neck.

Initial investigation disclosed that residents had heard somebody yelling “ladron, ladron” at past 1 a.m. Then later on they heard two gunshots.

Moments later, residents found a man bloodied and lying on the ground. He was taken to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Police said that during an ocular investigation at the crime scene, no spent shells of any caliber was found.

The victim was described as 5’4” to 5’5” in height, having medium built, fair complexion, sporting long hair and was wearing pants without upper garments.

The victim remained unconscious and in critical condition as of press time. – Dan Toribio Jr.
