Tungawan  Zamboanga Sibugay Mayor Randy  A. Climaco has thanked the Department of Social Welfare and Development-9 (DSWD-9) for pouring in projects to his municipality that have benefitted the people.

Climaco issued the statement of gratitude during the so-called Media Tour 2011 held last June  15-17 and participated by newsmen from the different areas in the region.

The tour was intended to inform the media about the successful implementation of  DSWD’s three priority projects — KALAHI- CIDSS, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and Self Employment Assistance- Kaunlaran ( SEA-K ).

Mayor Climaco appealed to newsmen to help him promote the image of Tungawan to give it a positive outlook.
“Your help is a great help for the progress and development of Tungawan. We have a problem of peace and order. We have problems of rebels, extortionists, bandits and other lawless groups who disturb the tranquil lives of the ordinary people. We are now 60 years old. Our municipality was created on May 24, 1960 through executive Order 395. We need more developments for the good of the people,“ Climaco said in his message.
He appealed to the Tungawan people to stay united and stay positive to push the town to prosperity and peace..

During the release of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program funds at the ATM booth in the municipal hall of Tungawan from June 15-17, beneficiaries formed a long line from early morning to evening to get their share.

One mother thanked DSWD-9, saying “it is a great help for the education of his four children and the family’s health benefits.”
Climaco said his municipality have 25 barangays that have benefited from the projects  of DSWD like barangay health stations, pre-school buildings, school buildings, day care centers, P 12.5 million KALAHI –CIDSS Grant, P 200,000. self employment assistance, water system, Rice mill, solar dryer, irrigation canal for rice productions and many others.       A total of 3,791 benefitted from DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilya program in Tungawan from 2009 to 2011.

Climaco said his town needs projects for the development of agriculture , aquaculture and investment on education and more school buildings.
On the other hand, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte Vice Mayor Daisy Limbang told newsmen that her municipality has received a cash award from the World Bank amounting to P 500,000. as best implementor of KALAHI-CIDSS projects, 4-Ps and SEA-K. — Allen Abastillas
