Congressman Celso L. Lobregat visited recently two public schools on invitation of school officials and Parent-Teachers Associations.

They took the opportunity to thank Lobregat for his support by providing them additional school buildings when he was the Mayor of the City.

Lobregat visited Boalan Elementary School where a 2-storey, 12-classroom building costing 12.9 million pesos was constructed and funded during his administration.

Construction of the school building began after the contractor was issued the Notice to Proceed on May 24, 2013.

Lobregat was also invited by school officials and parents of pupils of San Roque Elementary School to grace the Mass Induction Ceremony of the General PTA and Homeroom PTA officials.

They expressed gratitude to Lobregat for the Php 12.8 million school building that was built during his administration.

Lobregat, upon assuming the helm of the City Government, embarked on a massive construction of school buildings using city funds in pursuit of his advocacy to support education and his commitment to ease the classroom shortage in the city.

The number and size of new school buildings constructed during Lobregat’s term as City Mayor was unprecedented.

From 2007 to 2013, a total of 121 new school buildings were built, not counting the number of old structures that were rehabilitated and improved.  And, from a 2-storey, 4-classroom building, the capacity of structures built was increased to 8-classroom building, then 10-classroom building and later 12 classrooms in a 3-storey building thereby accommodating more classes. — Jubels Santos
