An unidentified man lobbed a grenade that exploded outside the house of the Tan family at Zone 4 in Ayala just a few meters away from Ayala police station at dawn yesterday.

A police report disclosed that the grenade landed beside the house of Richard Tan, 52, around 2 a.m.

No one was injured, but a part of the widow was damaged by the blast.

Tan and other family members could not identify the grenade thrower as they were asleep and awakened by a loud explosion.

Men of the Ayala police station led by Sr. Insp. Karib Muharram are still working on the case.

Police said the perpetrators of the grenade attack could be members of a drug ring, threatening the police after conducting several operations that resulted in the arrest of many drug pushers in the area.

Last holy week, an improvised explosive device exploded outside the station injuring some passersby and few months later a grenade was thrown and exploded near the same station. – Dan Toribio Jr.
