Grenade thrower in Ayala attack nabbed PDF Print E-mail

Policemen and barangay officials of Ayala arrested over the weekend a man tagged as behind the grenade explosion which occurred near Ayala’s Police Station 9.

Ricardo Puyatos y Bernardo alias Wang-Wang of Zone 4, Ayala, was nabbed by policemen led by Sr. Insp. Karib Muharram and barangay officials led by Kagawad Alex Macapili at Calle Zone 5, Calle San Jose, on Friday, a day after the blast.

Confiscated from Puyatos’ possession were six sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Puyatos was linked to the grenade throwing that exploded outside the house of Richard Tan,located some 20 meters away from the Ayala Police Station around 2 a.m..

In another incident, a 50-year-old man was wounded after he was accidentally shot by an army official along Gov. Alvarez Street at dawn yesterday.

The victim was identified as Michael Elgarico Tan of Marcos Drive, Putik. He was rushed to the hospital with a bullet wound in the body.

Tan was accidentally shot by Capt. Joselito Miguel Fernando Vidal, 36, of Maasin.

A sketchy report disclosed that Vidal  was passing Gov. Alvarez around 2:10 a.m. when he saw a group of persons in commotion. Vidal tried to pacify and drew his .45 caliber pistol then fired a warning shot.

However Tan who was also passing by area was hit by a bullet in the body.

Tan was rushed to the hospital while Vidal surrendered to the responding policemen.

Vidal was taken to the police office for investigation while the gun was turned over to the investigator for further investigation. – Dan Toribio Jr.
