Barangay Taluksangay is a recipient of a brand- new school building that caters to the classroom need of the growing east coast community.

The two (2) storey, ten (10) classroom-school building was recently inaugurated and turned over to the Division of City Schools headed by Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad.

District 2 Congresswoman Lilia Nuno said construction of the Php 10.9 million school edifice at Taluksangay Elementary School was funded during the incumbency of then Mayor Celso Lobregat, now District 1 congressman.

Construction work began in October, 2012.

It is one of seventeen (17) new school buildings built during the period from  2012 to 2013 by the Lobregat administration aimed to cope with the increasing number of enrolees every year in the city’s public elementary and high schools in both Districts  1 and 2.

Total cost of the 17 projects amounted to Php 198,567,085.28.

Since assuming the helm of the City Government in 2004, then Mayor Lobregat vigorously pursued his advocacy in support of education by causing the construction of 121 new school buildings in the city.

In addition to the above-mentioned projects, Lobregat also saw the need to rehabilitate and improve old or dilapidated school buildings.

For the period from 2012-2013 alone, a total of thirteen (13) old or dilapidated school buildings were either rehabilitated and improved at a cost of  some Php 10.1 million.

His exemplary leadership and financial management skill had enabled the city government under his care to undertake billions-worth of infrastructure projects without borrowing from any financial institutions. — Jubels Santos
