Suspect in 2012 Aussie kidnapping in Ipil nabbed PDF Print E-mail

One of the suspects behind the kidnapping of an Australian in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay in November 2012 was arrested Tuesday in a joint operation by police and miliary units.

Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office Director Sr. Supt. Celso L. Bael identified the arrested suspect as Edeliza Simbahon Ulep alias Gina Perez. She was nabbed  at Purok 7, Villana St., Trento, Agusan del around 12:45 p.m.

Bael said that Ulep is one of the  suspects who led the snatching of Australian national Warren Rodwell in Ipil.

In his report to Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Miguel C. Antonio Jr., Bael said  that Ulep’s arrest is covered with  warrant issued by Judge Josefino P. Bael of Regional Trial Court Branch 24, 9th Judicial Region of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay under Criminal Case number 1-5832 for the crime of kidnapping for ransom.

Meanwhile, the Zamboanga City Sea Based Anti-Trafficking Task Force arrested on Thursday a suspected human trafficker and rescued two women from Cagayan de Oro City.

The arres came around 7:00  p.m. at Casa Canelar, Barangay Canelar.

The Philippine Center on Transnational Crime Western Mindanao Field Office identified the  suspect as Gemelta Ganillero.

Investigation revealed that the two rescued victims were promised by Ganillero to work in Lebanon. They are now under government shelter, while
